Meet the Team

Dr. Ann Fischer

DVM, Owner

Dr. Fischer founded House Paws in 2005. She is a member of several veterinary associations, including the Veterinary Hospitals Association and Peaceful Passing for Pets. She enjoys attending Continuing Education seminars to continuously expand her knowledge of advances in veterinary medicine.

When she’s not working, Dr. Fischer spends time with her husband, Brad, their three children, and River Sally, the family’s Shih Tzu.  Her hobbies include gardening and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Julie Amann

Dr. Julie has been a close friend of Dr. Ann’s for many years and joined the House Paws team in June 2019. She received her undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Hamline University, and she graduated from the University of Minnesota with her DVM degree in 1989. Dr. Julie belongs to the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Association.

Dr. Julie’s hobbies include knitting and frequenting microbreweries in the Twin Cities area. She has a brown tabby named Luke who loves to snuggle!

Michon is a Certified Veterinary Technician and accompanies Dr. Fischer on house call appointments. She also assists our vets with surgeries every week. Michon started work as a CVT in 1991 and was employed at a private clinic for 15 years before joining our team in 2007. Michon has been with House Paws since our humble beginnings, and we are grateful to have such an accomplished, knowledgeable and organized tech.

Outside of work, Michon enjoys being with friends, going to movies and kickboxing. She also spends lots of quality time with her Boxer, Carman!

Certified Veterinary Technician

Nikki joined the House Paws family in November 2021. She has been a practicing CVT since 2006 and has experience working in general practice, as well as with the Humane Society and the University of Minnesota. Nikki accompanies Dr. Julie on house call appointments.

Nikki and her fiancé, Michael, have two cats, Fritz and Louis. In her free time, Nikki enjoys knitting, sewing, reading and hiking.

Amanda joined House Paws as a receptionist in October 2019. She was born and raised in West Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1999 with a degree in Animal Science. Amanda has 11 years of work experience in veterinary biotech research and four years of retail experience.

Amanda and her husband, Scott, lived in Colorado and Michigan before moving to Stillwater, Minnesota in August 2018. They have a daughter named Isabelle and a rambunctious puppy named Bodie. In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, binge-watching Jeopardy, and spending time in the outdoors with her family.

Jen joined the House Paws family in 2010 and has been in the veterinary field as a technician since 1993. She goes out on tech appointments a few times per month, and occasionally will fill in for our other technicians at appointments.

Married with two children, Jen has a Chihuahua named Padme and a Pit Bull mix named Odin.  She enjoys paper crafting and spending time with her family up north in Siren, Wisconsin.

Autumn began working in our office in 2023. She brings with her over 15 years of customer service. Autumn transitioned into the veterinary field in 2019. She was inspired to learn more about veterinary medicine after her own dog, Nova, was diagnosed with some uncommon medical conditions.

When she is not assisting House Paws clients, Autumn spends her free time reading and hanging out with her three fur babies (Hendrix, Shylo, and River).

Office Manager

Sue joined the House Paws team as a full-time employee in 2013 and became our Office Manager in 2016.  She has been a certified groomer since 1995, and she assists Dr. Ann with dental procedures.

When she’s not working, Sue likes to spend time with her husband, Mike, and their four Chihuahuas on their property up north. In addition to fishing in all seasons, Sue enjoys knitting, gardening and watching football.

Maddie joined the House Paws family in June 2016. She graduated from Saint Catherine’s University with a B.S. in Dietetics, and promptly realized that she should have focused her academic career on Business & Marketing. Maddie started out working for House Paws as a part-time receptionist, and she is now our full-time Practice Manager.

Maddie and her husband, Ryan, live in White Bear Lake. They are currently pet-less and on the waitlist for a Doberman rescue puppy. She and Ryan spend as much time as they possibly can up North and frequently vacation in Duluth and Ely.
