In-Home Euthanasia

Saying goodbye to a pet is always a difficult decision. House Paws offers in-home euthanasia so that your pet's final moments are spent in a familiar and loving environment, surrounded by family.

Home euthanasia offers you, your family and your pet the time to say goodbye to each other in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. There is no stress on your pet, and you do not have to endure time in a veterinary clinic and a drive home after your emotional and heartbreaking loss. If you have other pets at home, in-home euthanasia may also provide them with some closure.

Dr. Fischer has been performing in-home euthanasias since the early 1990’s. She believes it is most humane to administer a sedative prior to the euthanasia by giving a series of two subcutaneous injections in the skin by the neck. The pet will slowly fall asleep within five or ten minutes. When the owners are ready, she will then inject a euthanasia solution into the pet’s vein to stop its heart. This last step takes only a couple of minutes.

We offer clay paw prints to our clients if desired, which provide them with a sentimental object by which to remember their pet. We also offer cremation services, and the option to have ashes returned home.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have further questions about in-home euthanasia.
