Hold the Stuffing, Please!

Hey everyone, Linda Lou Dog Blogger reporting for duty again! It’s been a bit since my last post! Today let’s talk about stuffing. I know you immediately thought of the delicious bread stuffing that you humans will be enjoying later this month, but no. Today I want to discuss stuffing in toys……

I invited my friend Bodie over to play, but my mom and his mom said “No Linda Lou. Bodie can’t play with your toys.” This made me really curious, so I asked Bodie why they wouldn’t let me share my toys with him.

Bodie revealed that he cannot control his urge to rip open a stuffy toy to get the squeaker inside. He thinks all squeakers must be eradicated. Bodie then went into great detail on how he methodically dismembers the toy, but is careful to not EAT the stuffing, just spread it out all over the house so he can show his mom how thorough he is in his work.

I asked him what kind of toys CAN he play with?? Bodie said that his mom researched toys and she found some really fun ones, ones that he can’t chew apart. Some of his favorites are the Kong rubber balls and Benebones. Chuckit! Balls and Cuz Balls are pretty cool too.

So then I started wondering why eating your toys is such a big deal. Apparently, digestive tracts are not meant to process fabric. This can cause what humans call a “bowel obstruction” and that means big trouble for dogs and cats. If our parents notice us not feeling well after eating something we shouldn’t, they need to be diligent and call our vet, or we could become very sick and even die! Wow! Who knew…

I am glad that my sisters don’t eat toys, I like my stuffies too much! I guess I will just have to hide them when Bodie comes over.
