Linda Lou says hello… and a little tidbit about hydration

Hey there everybody! I would like to introduce myself as the newest member of the House Paws blog team. My name is Linda Lou, and I am a 6-year-old chihuahua. My mom also works for House Paws, which is the main reason why I scored this blogging gig. I’ve actually helped with the blog before…you may have seen my paw featured in the post about nail trims. That picture made me into a celebri-dog. I mean, that foot is pretty gorgeous if I do say so myself. If you ever swing into the House Paws office, take a minute to say hi to me and see my beautiful paws for yourself!

Anywho, I am always out and about with my parents and sisters, and I cannot wait to share with you some of the tips, tricks and tidbits for adventures that we have learned over the years. I have ideas about everything, from tick removal (ick!) to boating safety!

This is going to be so much fun!! I can hardly wait to share all of my thoughts with you. So without further ado, let’s dive into today’s topic: hydration.

We all need water to survive, and in the summer months it’s even more important for us furry creatures. You probably already know that cats and dogs don’t sweat like humans do. Our paws will perspire, but our main means of cooling is to pant. And boy, do we ever get thirsty when we are panting! We so appreciate having access to a bowl of cool (not cold) water to quench ourselves whenever we need to.

If you’re leaving the house with your pet for any type of excursion, whether it be a car ride or a walk through the park, bring a bottle of water and a bowl. There are even some cool collapsible bowls on the market that are super convenient for travel!

Water does more than just wet our whistle. It’s also vital for proper organ function. That would be a pretty big subject to cover right now, but just know that our bodies need water and plenty of it. I have a four-legged-friend who also works here in the office (she’s our Head Sunbather) and she demands fresh water. All. The. Time. To Carman, water is life. So is snacks. And the sun. And a good butt scratch. I digress.

In short, keep the water bowl clean and full, enjoy the summer and stay hydrated!

Later~
Linda Lou
