Pet Anxiety on Halloween

Halloween is only a few days away! For many, this is a fun night full of thrills and chills, but for some pets, Halloween truly can be spooky.

With all the trick-or-treaters arriving throughout the night, all of those strangers could easily cause stress for your pets! If your pets aren’t too keen on meeting lots of new people, keep them in a separate room away from the front door while people are trick-or-treating.

When you open the door for guests, or to pass out candy, make sure that your dog or cat doesn’t get outside. Pets that are anxious or stressed could easily try to run away. Before Halloween, make sure that your pet’s microchip information is up-to-date. Also check that your pets are wearing proper identification, including a collar with ID tags. Keep cats in the house throughout the entire day, and only let dogs outside on a leash.

Taking these simple precautions will help to make sure that both you and your beloved pets have a stress-free, fun-filled Halloween!
